3 Good Things & Why: A Writing Competition

Cultivating Gratitude Competition with Young Happy Minds

Write about your 3 Good Things and Why

People who are grateful tend to be happier, healthier and more fulfilled. Martin Seligman, the founder of positive psychology has developed a practice called, “3 good things” which consists of taking time to write 3 things that you’re grateful for and why at the end of each day.

Research conducted on this practice showed a remarkable effect. Participants doing this for 1 week increased happiness and decreased depressive symptoms for 6 months.

From ancient wisdom to the latest science, gratitude is known to be good for us and those around us. Yet it isn't always our automatic response, and we often take the good things in our lives for granted. So we have to consciously learn to get into the habit of it. Today we are launching a competition with our partner, Young Happy Minds to help all you Movellians create and nurture the habit of being grateful :-)

How to Participate

Every day for the month of May, we are inviting you to tell us your 3 Good Things and Why. We would love it if you could share your Gratitude with others. So here’s the deal:

1 - Create a Movella called 3 Good Things, here's an example.

2 - Every day, create a new chapter and write your 3 good things for the day and why

3 - Share each chapter of your 3 Good things on Movellas in mumbles, on Twitter or Instagram (whichever you prefer), and tag @younghappyminds and @movellas - and whoever else you would like to tag (it could be your school, your favourite band, someone you’re thankful for, etc.)

4 - Enter your 3 Good Things Movella into this competition [by scrolling to the top of this page and clicking the "join this competition" green icon on the right side of the page]!

5 - Encourage your family and friends to join the challenge with you! They just need to sign up on Movellas to join in :-)

Not only will taking part in this competition improve your own happiness, but, by sharing it with others via social media and encouraging them to take part will also help to increase their happiness as well <3
